Day One Recap
|
Updated 4/18/2011
|
Dear Parents and Players:
Coach Flynn has enthusiatically reported a great start to the week with the opening session on hitting. Today your player's heard about balance, hand grip, and bat speed.
The day began with a greeting and introduction to the Pembroke High School Varsity players acting as counselors for camp this week. Coach Flynn addressed today's subject on hitting with the players as they broke into three groups participating in live pitch and batting cage instruction.
Terms like "squishing the bug" and using your "knocking knuckles" were some of the terms used to illustrate some of the techniques to good hitting. We encourage you to engage your player about the days events! If you have a chance to ask your player how the day went, have them explain to you what "squishing the bug" and using your "knocking knuckles" means. If their faces do not light up when you talk to them - let us know! They will be scratching their heads wondering how you knew about these terms in the first place!
So far, the weather looks like it will be overcast in the morning with the possibility of rain coming in the afternoon. Please check your e-mail in the morning and we will inform you as to what the plan will be.
If you have not received your camp T-shirt, please see one of our staff members upon your arrival to our next session. If there is anything in particular that you would like us to address with regard to one of your player's, just let us know and we will work together to improve them.
Day One is in the books! Tomorrow- we will begin some of the fielding drills and start to put some of the pieces of the "puzzle" together.
If you have any questions, please reply to the e-mail and we will try to respond immediately!
All the Best!

SESSION 2
|
Updated 4/19/2011
|
Good Morning!
I have just returned from the fields and we are in luck! Camp today is on however, be prepared to pick your child up if we get severe showers. The forecast should get us through the am and drizzle may be the worst we will see.
In any event, a wind breaker or maybe something waterproof may be helpful today. As for tomorrow, the extended forecast does not look good. If we have to cancel we will extend the Friday session to a double session because the weather is supposed to cooperate. Remember tomorrow is an afternoon schedule from 4pm-7pm. I will try to get a decison made as soon as possible so that you may be able to make other plans.
Today Coach Flynn will put the fielding piece of the "puzzle" together. Make sure that your players has his/her glove with them. I will recap the days events with you later in the day.
Have fun!

2010 Junior Legion Season
|
Updated 8/8/2010
|
On behalf of the coaching staff of the Pembroke Post #143 Junior Legion team, I would like to congratulate this year's entry for all that they accomplished in 2010. After a 13-3-1 record finishing first in the Zone 9/10, the Junior team swept through the district playoffs, defeating Marshfield, and headed to the State Tournament as the odds on favorite. After a 1-2 performance, the team bowed out of contention losing to Taunton and Chicopee and defeating Dennis in the double elimination tournament in Acushnet. We wish the teams advancing -Good Luck representing the State at the Regionals to be held at Gill Stadium in Manchester, NH August 6th,7th,8th. Many Thanks go out to Coaching staff for their dedication to the team which is a year round commitment. Coach Mark Gerhart and Coach Mike Sjolin accomplished more than wins and losses with the 2010 team. There leadership by example- is what the program strives to achieve as they promoted a winning attitude and gentlemanly play in their approach to the season- instructing, coaching, and teaching the players the skills necessary to compete in the American Legion Baseball program. On a special note, I would like to thank Coach Tom Drummond for his leadership, commitment, and dedication to the Pembroke Post # 143 Baseball program. As Director of Baseball Operations, Tom's selfless work on behalf of the players, coaches and parent's of both the Senior and Junior teams has been nothing less than amazing. He is the heart and soul of the organization! All the Best! Greg Hanley GM- Pembroke Post#143
